Title: Wales v England 25 Feb
Post by: TaplowGreen on February 25, 2023, 07:52:28
Good morning all

I was wondering that as the match is going ahead today, are there extra trains being laid on to Cardiff and back to Bristol/London afterwards? (perhaps using 12 car EMUs which I understand had been identified as ideal for this purpose?)

I was supposed to be in Paris this weekend with friends to watch France v Scotland, with a lengthy lunch arranged in Les Halles today to take in the other two matches, however an appallingly timed bout of COVID has left me confined to barracks!  :(

That is stunningly bad luck!  So far I have managed to avoid it (as far as I know).  No idea how.

West Coast Railways are running a diesel charter from London Paddington to Cardiff.

GWR look to be running some eight coach shuttles between Cardiff and Newport.

Had it for the first time in 2020 (I was an early adopter!) which cost me a ticket for England v Wales.........tested positive on Tuesday, and again yesterday - not feeling too bad really, but that may change depending on this afternoon's result from Cardiff!

(I do have a ticket for England v France next month, hopefully all clear by then!)

Sorry to hear that, hope you shake it off quickly.

This news article implies a number of extra services will be running, but I’ve not looked closely to see what they are:

Sounds a great deal more robust than previous years.
