Young and old alike will line the streets to welcome the new Lord Mayor, Councillor Brian Vincent, and help raise money for local charities and worthy causes.

The theme for this year's parade is a celebration of Plymouth and its people, marking the city's packed calendar of events for 2008, including the start of the Artemis Transat last weekend, the Sutton Harbour Festival, Veteran's Day, Music of the Night and British Fireworks Championships.

The event will start on the Hoe Promenade at 10.30am with lots of live entertainment, activities, bouncy castles, interactive displays, charity stalls and motion simulator rides - promising to be a fun-filled day for all the family.

Plymouth Sound will entertain the crowds with local music, dance performances and competitions with activities continuing on the Hoe until 4pm.
