The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is proposing to create a bridleway along the trackbed of the 'Upper' Wensleydale line from Hawes to Garsdale:

Seems like a good idea given that the preserved Wensleydale is showing no signs of getting there any time soon.

I have terrible memories of the time we went to Hawes with our little nephew and he ate far too much Wensleydale for a toddler's stomach....

Anyway, it looks like the YDNPA (let's see how the auto-abbreviator copes with that one) is making cracking progress with the bridleway scheme:
