Title: Looe Traffic Chaos Fears
Post by: Lee on April 30, 2008, 15:09:03
Residents in Looe fear there will be traffic chaos this summer with a parking enforcement warden on duty for just three days a week (link below.)

Cornwall County Council will take over control of implementing parking restrictions next week after the axing of police controlled traffic wardens. But locals say Looe needs a full-time warden to deal with vehicles which clog up the streets during the holiday season.

Parking has been a problem in the town since the retirement of the traffic warden in February 2007, with many people leaving their cars on double yellow lines in narrow streets around the town.

The worst areas are Fore Street in East Looe where lorry deliveries are made daily, and Quay Road in West Looe where cars are starting to block the fire appliances exiting from the station.

The situation is potentially dangerous, it has been claimed.

But it's getting the tourists to use it. Actually they do, and it can be full to bursting in the summer, so no room there for the train to take any more strain unless an enhanced service/stock is provided.
