So all you can do is look at the lists and, as you say, wonder at their number and variety. I had a newer one - issue 119 - and the current version is issue 120 (https://www.networkrail.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/NR-Standards-Catalogue-Issue-120.pdf).
