Title: Does "Zero Cancellations" = "Zero Bus Service" ?
Post by: Lee on April 23, 2008, 16:00:37
A village at the centre of a campaign to get people to adopt a greener lifestyle is to lose its bus service to Bath (link below.)

First is to axe the six-times-a-day service between the city and Colerne from the end of June because the route loses money.

Villagers keen to make the village a beacon of environmental good practice have condemned the move.

The firm says that it is withdrawing the 228 service because it is unprofitable and because it is experiencing problems recruiting drivers.

It says it is working towards a target of "zero cancellations" - a situation where it does not need to pull buses off the road even when drivers are off sick.

It's probably a good job First is mandated to run the timetable, otherwise they will be doing the same thing with FGW trains.

Not that they ever cancel trains!
