Title: First the Hitachi 80x - now the Class 68!
Post by: PhilWakely on June 30, 2021, 07:46:17
It would appear that the Class 68 is the latest vehicle to suffer from cracks.....

13 DRS Class 68s removed from service (https://www.railjournal.com/fleet/13-direct-rail-services-class-68s-removed-from-service/?fbclid=IwAR1qe50v2e3nWCOGdl8sktekcauQV7-P_3Nj5ZpFpQLyMoqFFmFvWhO0Ydo)

I haven't seen the usual howls of doom and destruction that accompany most news reports about nuclear trains.

There shouldn't be - the box these brackets attach is for ETS: electric supply to the train for heating. Chiltern's need this as they haul passenger coaches. Those in goods use only don't, and I think don't even have he box (or brackets) fitted. Nuclear fuel is in any case able to make its own arrangements for heating.

Not that any of that would deter anyone feeling the need for a howl.
