On Merseyside, Merseyrail are getting tough with those passengers who break the rules and cause general anti-social behaviour.

Do you think FGW should follow suit?

All for no shoes on seats but I've no issue with people taking shoes off - I do it

Don't see the problem if you have clean shoes!

And conversely, I would rather you kept your shoes on. I would rather get a bit of dirt on my suit from your shoes than have to put up with, shall we say, foot odour. Why do people feel the need to do this?

To turn the4 double first class seats into a bed for two hours every morning

Being relativey short if I lift up the middle arm I can roll my coat up, use it as a pillow aganint the window and stretch my legs out without them dangling into the aisle

Actualy quite comfortable and I usually get about 90 minutes extra sleep!

Have to say I am a no no to shoes on seats (feet without shoes ok if your feet and socks are clean! ;) )!

I think that it is selfish and antisocial. Luckily, I never think (before sitting down) what could be on my seat because of people who do this! If you think about it......

I hate the way everyone seems to be on the girl's side. Yes - a court case was way too much, but she clearly broke the rules, and should have been fined.

I praise MerseyRail for introducing such policy.

Same here, FGW should bring in zero tollerence on anti social behaviour, there is a byelaw to back up just about any form of this, the really annoying one is these d!ck heads that play their blood phones out loud! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

Hear, hear vacman. Though the real issue is who would be willing to enforce it, and the associated risk of violence towards those that do.

I asked a 'chav' to switch off the music coming from their phone last week, only to recieve a string of abuse. I then waited until i opened the doors at the next station, went back to this guy, who's phone was still playing, and told him the train wasn't moving til he got off. Took about 3 minutes, but being a busy train, the other passengers started to get on his back, and he left. Nice when it works!
I think, but am not 100% sure, that there is a railway byelaw about music on trains, and that the guard can confiscate phone until end of journey. Vacman can probably clarify.

Not sure about confiscating the phone, but the byelaw is byelaw 7.

This is such a disgusting habit of some passengers which should be addressed for the health and safety of all passengers.

There are all sorts of bacteria and virus germs lurking on peoples footwear and are transmitted to the seats for other passengers to load onto their garments.

If a passenger chooses to take their footwear off and place their feet on a newspaper, etc with feet up, well that should be socially accepted to releave the possibility of DVT or alike or just to obtain extra comfort during a journey. However, if the passenger has smelly odour feet, then they should respect other fellow travellers and refrain from removing their footware.

The idiot chav element will totally disregard anyone and place dirty trainers on the clean seats, except I usually kick em of the train for being a nusiance to others.

I hope FGW and all train operators tighten up their stance on enforcing the clean seat policy in future.  ;)
