Plans for a man-made white water canoeing facility could be used to bolster a pioneering waterways vision for Maidenhead (link below.)

The Maidenhead Waterways Restoration Group has started discussions with extreme kayaker Shaun Baker for advice on building a white water canoeing facility in the centre of town.

Representatives believe the dry arches underneath the Chapel Arches would make an ideal base for canoeists to use the restored waterway.

The weir at Green Lane is also being touted as the best area to develop a white-water canoeing course.

This scheme would be part of the restoration group's waterways project which would see a number of canals linked together providing a navigable route for boats through the town.
