When lockdown is over I am planning to do the Thames Valley day ranger,so some background information would be very useful. :) Take a look at this ... What is the longest branch line in Cornwall? Looking at the Adlestop map (https://www.systemed.net/carto/New_Adlestrop_Railway_Atlas.pdf ) which is geographic and clear, the longest branch that remains open is Newquay. In the past, there may have been an argument for the Padstow LSWR/SR branch to be considered but I suspect that depends on whether you count it back Halwill Junction or to the Devon / Cornwall border. Same map ... same question as how you define "branch" and "Thames Valley". Title: Re: Longest Thames Valley Branch Line Post by: eightf48544 on March 11, 2021, 15:58:29 TV branches to Reading

Title: Re: Longest Thames Valley Branch Line Post by: JayMac on March 11, 2021, 22:48:12 Is Heathrow covered by the Thames Branches Day Ranger? It's not. Title: Re: Longest Thames Valley Branch Line Post by: w056863 on March 12, 2021, 09:16:08 I would strongly suggest that you do the Marlow branch in the evening peak to experience Bourne End station with two trains.
Title: Re: Longest Thames Valley Branch Line Post by: eightf48544 on March 12, 2021, 14:23:37 If you are coming from Slough or further West to do the Greenford branch from West Ealing make sure you get the right train GWR don't serve West Ealing so you have to change at Hayes (National rail Enquiries gives Southall. The offical connection to Greenford is off the Heathrow stopper. Not the Hayes start up. Of course that might change when lockdown ends This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
