Title: Britons could be barred from EU entry on 1 January Post by: grahame on December 10, 2020, 16:33:01 From the BBC (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55256248)
Quote Britons could be barred from EU entry on 1 January UK travellers could be barred from entering the EU from 1 January as travel rules associated with being part of the EU expire and pandemic restrictions block entry. Quote It might come as a big surprise that UK travellers could be barred from entering the EU after 31 December. Remember - Europe is our top holiday destination with more of us going to Spain than any other country. But with infection rates still rising, countries have to do what they can to protect themselves and now we're out of the EU, we have to follow new rules. Travel corridors, set up in the summer to help travellers bypass quarantine with countries with low infection rates, could come back. They've operated between individual EU countries like Spain, France and Italy before, and could return so individual countries can welcome lucrative UK holidaymakers to spend their pounds in hotels, bars and restaurants. But for now, yes, we could be barred. However, this scenario could also be negotiated away as part of the talks that go on until Sunday. This would be far from clever from a Eurotunnel, ferry and airline viewpoint, but might be clever in terms of stopping Coronavirus sweeping in a further wave one way or the other across the channel. Plenty of places I want to see in the UK, and next year would be a good time ... pity that Geoff and Vicki have already done "all the stations"; perhaps "all the lines" as "all the bus stops" would be a mammoth task. Need to revisit PSUL after next weekend! This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
