Looking at the latest posts in the Bridge Strike thread I noted the confusion between Horley and Horsley.

Just for fun and lockdown is boring I ran the journey through Nation Rail Enquiries. Some interesting results.

Route 1: Cost ?16:10 Journey time 1.28 Changes 2  Norwood Junction and Epsom. Hourly
Route 2: Cost ?16:10 Journey time 1.12 Changes 4  Redhill, Dorkig Deepdene (walk),  Dorking Main Leatherhead Hourly
Route 3: Cost ?15.50 Journey time 1.20 or 26 Changes 2  Redhill Guildford. Half Hourly

Interesting route 2 is quickest but involves a walk
Route 2 3is obviously easiest and is every 30 minutes off peak

I often walk between those two Dorking stations on my travels. It's only a short walk and for my journeys from Bookham or Leatherhead to Gatwick or the South / South East coast it's usually cheaper and often quicker too than going via London.

I'd say route 3 with just 2 changes is the easiest.  I come from Bookham and like Surrey455, from there, would go via Leatherhead, Dorking and Deepdene but Horsley being just that bit further, I think I'd instinctively go via Guildford and Redhill.  Route 3 is, almost incredibly, now four trains an hour between Horsley and Guildford.   When I was a Bookham resident, the SW services terminated at Effingham Jn - it can only be a good thing that Guildford is now on the departure screens at Epsom and Leatherhead (and Ashtead and Bookham), not Effingham and a change, regardless of how simple that change was.

I thought it odd that going via Guildford is cheaper, since via Dorking must be the shortest route. And I got two other routes out of the OJP: via Clapham, over 90 minutes and ?18.10; and via Horsham, even slower at around two hours but still ?16.10.

Thnaks Richard typo in original post corrected. ? is obviously easiest and cheapest.

It would be slower for me as I'd find myself in The Lincoln partaking of their ales :)
