Title: New arrivals at Swindon
Post by: bobm on July 04, 2020, 14:40:22
My first visit to Swindon station in three months and contractors have been busy.

There is now a new waiting room at the London end of the island platform (1&3)

With the IETs now having replaced the HSTs it makes sense to have a waiting area at that end of the platform with more of the standard class coaches away from the main station canopy.

However as with the other waiting areas, it is currently out of use.

Meanwhile at the country end one of the new TransWilts solar powered notice board has been erected.   These were the result of a successful application to GWR's Customer and Communities Improvement Fund.

Four have been installed - at Melksham (pictured below), Trowbridge and Westbury.   The Chippenham one is in abeyance at present due to the station's listed status.  The Westbury one is mains-powered as it under the station roof.

Posters will be added shortly once conditions allow.
