The programme at 13 00 on Talking Pictures is Terminus, the 1961 British Transport Films production.  A real gem.  Looking forward to the Architecture programme on Yesterday this evening.  It's the start of a series fronted by Tim Dunn.

I have moved this to "Broadcast Media" from "Lighter side" where it was originally posted, and also added the date into the subject line - that way it will be found by over-serious members (!) who choose not to have their feeds diluted with quizzes and humour, and anyone who comes back to the thread later will see straight away which Tuesday is referred to (and know, after today, that they've missed it!).

During our lockdowns I go through all the freeview channels about 06:00am and see what interest me.

Quite happy to put up anything that MAY be of interest,can't guarentee once the lock down has finished though.

I've just been watching this and realised that clips from here have featured on a few railway related programs that I've seen in the past.  BTW, loved the intro with railway staff bee keeping on the station roof.

Loved the Tim Dunn programme ...all new to me .....but found the advert breaks SO irritating !

Yep, definitely a series to follow.  The Rotterdam bit was especially good I thought.

Interesting end to the programme before Tim Dunn focussing on the Post Office Railway, latterly Mail Rail, in London.

I saw that too, Bob.  I took a trip on Mail Rail at the beginning of March and there was mention there that the whole system is kept in operational order, just in case it is needed.  It would be lovely if they could do a full tour one day.  After all, they now have the passenger cars!

I enjoyed Tim's show and particularly the bit in Rotterdam.  Rather sad I never visited the previous station but the new one and some of the surrounding architecture all look great.

The closest I got to Centraal, I think was the old Rotterdam West (now, I understand, a Metro station) and Schiedam station when I travelled on the Holland Scandinavian Express as a kid. For some reason I think that Centraal was avoided although I may be mistaken here. Either way, I was too young to fully appreciate the old station's architecture.

I wish that each segment had been continuous, it was really annoying to jump between them.

I agree XP - it seems there is a school of TV program editors who like this, another that does not. When you have this and commercial breaks I think it spoils it a little.

I think it's another reflection of the somewhat tired cynical views held by TV Execs of the attention span their target audience has. Even with these sorts of programs they seem only capable enough to trot out these worn out old techniques. Shame really, as I reckon the audience is a bit smarter than that...it's not ITV2 after all!
