Title: New life for mature train - where is she now? Post by: grahame on April 11, 2020, 15:34:38 It's good to see pictures of an old friend in smart new clothes ... 153361, with small vinyls applied on 14th December 2014 to celebrate the first successful year of the TransWilts trial service, went out as our ambassador around the GWR area to help advertise our line. Retired from GWR about a year ago, with every train requiring more than one carriage, she's got a smart new paint job and internal refit - fully decked up in Transport for Wales colours and running some of their community services, based out of Cardiff Canton.
Many thanks for these pictures - initially can anyone identify the location? Let's hope she can help traffic there grow so she doesn't have to run alone. Title: Re: New life for mature train - where is she now? Post by: grahame on April 20, 2020, 21:05:13 Church Stretton? Moving the right way, but a bit of a way to go. Title: Re: New life for mature train - where is she now? Post by: smokey on April 22, 2020, 15:40:41 I'm taking a stab at Whitchurch
Title: Re: New life for mature train - where is she now? Post by: grahame on April 22, 2020, 16:31:51 I'm taking a stab at Whitchurch You are really boiling now - right line, just not quite right station. It's almost "how deep into England can a TfW 153 get" but not quite (I think you would have recognised Crewe!) Title: Re: New life for mature train - where is she now? Post by: rogerw on April 22, 2020, 19:39:04 Nantwich?

I understand that a diagram from Cardiff runs Swan Line to Swansea, Heart of Wales to Shrewsbury, then provides local Shrewsbury to Crewe shuttles before returning back to base the same way. I suspect from comment the diagram is more usually a 150 than a 153 - but this service would not be the only 153 to make an appearance at Crewe - they've also been running many East Midlands services via Stoke-on-Trent to Derby and Nottingham - not sure if that's current into 2020 with the accessible toilet rules as they now are.
