Title: Coronavirus and the self employed. Post by: JayMac on March 24, 2020, 09:05:16 Some potential good news for the self-employed and freelance workers.
Yesterday Parliament debated "Statutory Self-employment Pay" Currently the only help they can receive are deferred tax payments and making a claim for Universal Credit or Employment & Support Allowance. A similar monthly amount to that promised to furloughed workers is being considered. The plan is currently at the committee stage in Parliament and I suspect it may take a few days to enact a Statutory Instrument and then put a claim procedure in place. https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/58-01/0122/amend/coronavirus_daily_cwh_0320rev.14-18.html This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
