Title: Diversion of passengers onto TransWilts trains
Post by: grahame on December 19, 2019, 11:05:04
From the Wiltshire Times (https://www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/18110004.trains-cancelled-person-dies-tracks/), with regard to yesterday's peak a.m. closure at Corsham

Network Rail Western tweeted at around 8.20am: "There has been a fatality on the railway line between Chippenham Spa and Bath Spa. The train line will be shut while emergency services and our mobile operations team attend the site.

"Services from Bristol Temple Meads will go via Bristol Parkway. There will be additional stops at Swindon to pick up passengers.

"Passengers from Chippenham for London Paddington or Bath Spa/Bristol Temple Meads should take the TransWilts service from Chippenham to Swindon before changing. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to your journey."

The line re-opened at around 10am with some following delays to services between Bath and Chippenham.

It shows how much a part of the network the TransWilts service now is, though frankly I would much rather that circumstances such as this never happened.   Also shows that we need an hourly service ... the line would have been close to being re-opened before the next train came up from Trowbridge.
