Title: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: JayMac on November 22, 2019, 14:38:30 #2 in the series, 'Finn in front of a level crossing gate' :P
Where is he today? (http://i598.photobucket.com/albums/tt68/bignosemac/rps20191122_143410_zpsfixfguxc.jpg) Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: Bmblbzzz on November 22, 2019, 15:59:41 I have absolutely no idea! But I can see that it's (very) narrow gauge so I'm going to guess wildly that it's that light railway thing between Templecombe and Henstridge.
There, now the people who know can have their turn. Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: johnneyw on November 22, 2019, 16:03:01 Took a YouTube cab ride on the Gartell Light Railway just now and couldn't spot anything that matched that crossing. so I'm thinking its not there.
Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: JayMac on November 22, 2019, 16:07:42 Sorry, not the Gartell Light Railway.
Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: rogerw on November 22, 2019, 16:08:06 Looks like 15" gauge or less. Moors Valley Railway perhaps?
Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: MVR S&T on November 22, 2019, 16:14:08 Yes indeed it is, where I have volunteered for many years and now work part time, hence the MVR in my user name. I am normally there on a Friday, but not this one, was doing extra at my other job delivering TVs.

I was tracking the rain across Somerset and Dorset today looking for somewhere dry(ish) for a walk with Finn. So, hopped in the car and drove to Moors Valley Country Park. A delightful, mildly damp walk around the lake, then coffee and a bite to eat in the cafe. Will definitely be back for another visit, at a weekend, when the trains are running. I'll post a few more pictures later. Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: bradshaw on November 22, 2019, 19:47:59 Ditto, Marion had an art workshop today so, after dropping her of, it was me and the dog in the rain. I decided to venture to a spot I had been planning to visit for some time. The aim, to photograph some trains. I was also trying out a new (to me) camera.

Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: PhilWakely on November 22, 2019, 22:13:48 Oath ?
Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: bradshaw on November 22, 2019, 22:42:52 Yes, Oath Farm is behind the train. The IET’s were interspersed with a Rail Heat Treatment Train, the High Output train going to Fairwater Yard and a Colas Track machine.
However, poor Betty did not get the walk she hoped for. The aim was to climb Burrow Mump but it was too slippery and neither of use were brave enough to get to the top. The last time I was at the top was in 2014 and most of the surrounding land was under water Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: JayMac on November 22, 2019, 23:37:41 And to think, until 2017, I lived near Oath, in Langport. And before that my Mum and stepdad lived in Curry Rivel.
I've photted in that location too. More than once. Disappointed with myself for not recognising. :-[ What was the camera bradshaw? Title: Re: Where's Finn today, 22nd November 2019? Post by: bradshaw on November 23, 2019, 08:44:12 Fujifilm X10, which Marion bought some years ago but found the on switch, rotating the zoom lens, not what she wanted. She replaced it with a Panasonic which she finds much better for her art work. So, like my iPhone, it was taken into my use.
Yesterday was an excuse to practice, however I did use the iPhone to take the videos of the NR trains mentioned previously. We visit the Levels quite often, usually having coffee in Langport before venturing further. Ham Wall RSPB reserve is a favourite as Betty is allowed along the old S&D track, but not into the reserve itself. There are also toilets and a welcome centre which has tea and coffee, as well as brownies for sale.
