Why?

You know where you have two seats facing each other - with space for a table - but you get something about six inches wide good for nothing more than the person closest to the window placing a cup of coffee on it - kind of like those on a 165 in first class....

Why?

Cant be that much more to put in a table

Currently on an arriva 175 and I am at a TABLE - but the set behind me are the mini tables.  As I'm alone in the carriage I have just been sad enough to get my rule out and measure the width between the seats - they are the SAME...... so why the mini table?

I think it allows more standing room on the Thames Turbos!  ;D

It adds space for a disabled space.

Just looked around, there is NO disabled space in this carriage - also on a 165 I'm sure the disabled space is not in both carriages?  And why have them in first class - there is no difference in leg room/space - just lack of a horizontal surface at table height

And as I said, I measured the space!  There is no difference..... (I have a tape measure on me as I was up at my mothers helping her measure for some new furniture!)

What I meant is I think you could put a wheelchair where the table would be.

Not if you also wanted four passengers to use the seats!

And how would you get a wheel chair through the door into a 165 first class compartment?

Also - the mini tables are half way through the carriage (as in SC on a 165/166) - you would NEVER get any wheel chair between the seats!

This is the use of them in 158's but is obviously different for 165/6's, I really could only imagine it is to have more standing room.
