The introduction of shorter new trains should not be affected. And six-carriage services will run from end of this year on other parts of Northern's network, just not through Leeds. However, the dispute and the sequence of events shines a light on the failings of an overly complicated rail system, which a government-commissioned review is looking to fix. Title: Re: Two year delay on longer trains at Leeds Post by: grahame on March 07, 2019, 07:03:36 I'm seeing comment elsewhere that the plan on (some ?) routes through Leeds is to replace 4 car trains with 6 car ones comprising 2 x 3 car units ... anticipated result for 2 years of delay from Leeds being a reduction in the length of peak trains from 4 to 3 carriages. Not my area ... so confirmation / comment / clarification / correction welcome - but it does rather sound like it helps paint a picture of problems rather wider than our area.

Indeed, was in Leeds and York yesterday and was quite surprised to see how many Pacers there were still around. Saw a few LNER IET's too - I reckon that green suits them much better than the red and white.
