Title: BBC Points West Tues 5th Feb 2019, Lead article on GWR customer satisfaction Post by: johnneyw on February 05, 2019, 13:43:21 It was the lead article on the 13.35 bulletin and I guess will lead, or at least feature, in the early evening edition.
Featured interview with GWR face at Parkway giving the usual "Not been good enough, problems identified, will be fixed but much to do and will take time". Worryingly, even the PR face didn't come over in a particularly optimistic manner. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0c1w0yz/bbc-points-west Edit: Link added from BBC website, should be working for today at least. Even though there are legitimate excuses that they can cite for the present situation, the public patience is equally legitimately running thin.

Even though there are legitimate excuses that they can cite for the present situation, the public patience is equally legitimately running thin. Hence I think why the PR person didn't particularly defend their position. In reality though, we've got a spanking new load of IET's, refurbished Turbos, the Pacers have gone, Filton Bank has been quadrupled, electrification, a load of resignalling and some helpful little bits and pieces like barcode tickets. Hardly neglect. Presumably the next phase is for it all to bed in, to be followed by new timetables and the next round of improvements like Henbury. It is not just me who criticises them.
The frequent short formations, the hard seats, often no reservations, unreliable toilets, and other downgrades are a frequent cause of complaints. For years the "jam tomorrow" promises have featured IETs. They are now in use and have proved a disappointment to many.
