Title: Last Night (15 Mar)
Post by: Melksham Dawn on March 16, 2007, 11:13:52
Not an impressive service!

The 17:30 from Paddington which is the advertised conection for the 18:42 from Swindon to Westbury via Melsham was delayed.  Instead of delaying the 18:42 by a few mins at Swindon, thus ensuring that the people on the delayed 17:30 made their conection, the 18:42 was let out of Swindon just in front of the 17:30 from Paddington.  Therefore, delaying even further the train full of passengers as it followed the slower train to Chippenham and meaning that those wanting to connect to the Westbury service missed their conection.

A really good example of how to run a service.  Especially, given all the assurances we were given that once FGW took over the Wessex Franchise this wouldn't happen

That's very interesting ... since the 18:42 is the last service of the day, I understood that it should be specially delayed to ensure that connections into it are made.

Dawn - how did you get back to Melksham?

Graham.

The long suffering platform staff at Chippenham arranged a taxi for me and another man who travels from Reading.

Good luck with the meeting tonight.
