Title: Turbo = ???
Post by: Trowres on February 23, 2018, 22:37:26
The turbocharger as a means of getting more "oomph" out of an internal combustion engine has led to common use of the term "Turbo".

I'm wondering what an equivalent term would be in the age of electric trains ... in DC technology, field divert seems to be the closest analogy, but would probably baffle most passengers. As for AC, Gate Turn-off is a bit old-hat (although it sounds like a way of diverting into a field  ::)... and if today's tech is the IGBT, maybe we should stick that on the side of trains.
