Now in its fifth year, the UK Rail Industry Awards continues to bring together the leaders and decision-makers running the rail industry for the sector’s biggest and most prestigious celebration. The event recognises the hard work and achievement from the dedicated organisations, teams and individuals working tirelessly to deliver an efficient and robust rail network, which continues to be one of the safest in Europe.

Attending the UK Rail Industry Awards is a truly amazing experience for you, your customers and colleagues and a great way to celebrate excellence and innovation across the industry. The event is also an exclusive opportunity to network with the supply chain, and for the supply chain to network with the industry.

Sadly, no category for "best customer service" that I could spot, and little there for working with the community.  This is the rail industry looking within the rail industry for the most part, and indeed at the technical and infrastructure level peers rather than passenger groups are likely to be able to weed out good practise and innovation from the mediocre.   Posted here though in case anyone say "yes - that would fit and is worth entering".

Isn't that the Golden Spanners award event?

No: the Golden Spanners awards are for the best performing railway fleets - see Modern Railways (http://www.modern-railways.com/2016/11/28/swt-scoops-top-spanners-prizes/) for details of those awards, from last year.  ;)

Mutual back patting/drooling session no doubt, and yes Graham the absence of any emphasis on Customer Service speaks volumes - in virtually every other sector it's one of the main award criterias that organisations strive for.

Perhaps some other organisation could run a scheme to be known as the "rusty spanner award" for the worst maintained and/or worst performing railway fleet ?

Let's assume that award has been around since 2001.

Undefeated champion over that period would be the Class 180.😀
