Title: Should we have a "Rolling Stock" forum? Post by: mada on February 26, 2008, 11:21:51 Recently a lot of the most popular / longest topics have centred around rolling stock. Have you considered creating a "Rolling Stock" forum on here?
Title: Re: Should we have a "Rolling Stock" forum? Post by: grahame on February 26, 2008, 14:33:27 Hi, Mada ... I'm constantly keeping an eye open as the "admin" to see how we can improve the site, and I have a "WIBNIF" list - "Wouldn't it be nice if". Things on there range from the tiny to the major from the short term to the long term. And one of those areas is the arrangements of the boards.
At the moment, there are several ideas for changes in this area floating around. I am reluctant to do them piecemeal, or to make major changes too often. We have seen major timetable changes in December '06 and again (on Bristol 'burbs anyway) December '07, and you'll notice how the people who like the changes are quiet, and the people who loathe them shout strongly. This is a very busy week / season - yesterday was our second busiest day ever, with the previous day not far short, and my personal schedule has ramped up from "stretched" to "ridiculous" - so it would be very easy for me to make half-hearted changes and break something without having the time then fix what I had done. So I'm going to make note of the suggestion, add it to WIBNIF and assure you that it will come up in discussions with other moderators in due course / be looked at next time we do a revision. But please don't hold your breath waiting for it, I'm afraid. Title: Re: Should we have a "Rolling Stock" forum? I know a lot of water has flowed under the bridge in the month since Mada asked this, but I thought I would come back and let you know of a decision taken at the Moderator's meeting yesterday where we decided NOT to add a specific rolling stock board. We feel that would dilute postings withe people not knowing where to put things in many cases, and that it would turn us much more into an enthusiast's board rather than a passenger's board. Postings on stock and stock types still very welcome indeed, but we don't feel that a spotter's area or something that could become one is where we should be going.
