Title: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 18:08:15 Rattling home on Casper this evening, I mused how pleasant it is to be gently rocked, to have that fresh air breezing through open windows, and to chat with fellow travellers.
(http://www.wellho.net/pix/newerstuff0.jpg) But there's a lot of newer stuff around these days in the GWR area - "Coming soon to a line near you". Where did I take these pictures? (1 each in first 24 hours please!) 1. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/newerstuff1.jpg) 2. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/newerstuff2.jpg) 3. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/newerstuff3.jpg) 4. Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 18:31:15 Well, 4 looks like Swindon... It is ... and that was supposed to be one of the more difficult ones, bearing in mind that the train shown isn't exactly common place there at the moment. 2. Swindon Yes, also Swindon Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: Western Pathfinder on July 28, 2017, 18:37:06 No1 Bristol Temple Meads.
Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 19:21:45 No1 Bristol Temple Meads. Yes, it is ... with a train on the left in TransWilts colours just awaiting our logo ;) Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: patch38 on July 28, 2017, 19:56:11 What's the story behind Casper? I believe I may have seen him at a distance from the car park in Swindon but otherwise I'm blissfully unaware of him (apologies in advance if I haven't been keeping up...)
Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: SandTEngineer on July 28, 2017, 20:09:52 5. Bristol Temple Meads
Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 20:20:15 5. Bristol Temple Meads Yes, it is ... an a nice new bit of kit! Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: Oxonhutch on July 28, 2017, 20:33:18 3. Paddington
Looks like Platform 5 Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 20:35:48 What's the story behind Casper? I believe I may have seen him at a distance from the car park in Swindon but otherwise I'm blissfully unaware of him (apologies in advance if I haven't been keeping up...) This 153 was painted plain very light grey as a neutral livery as it was expected to go off lease with GWR quickly; idea was it could go elsewhere without another repaint. Then there was an unplanned delay in the cascade and he's stayed with us. Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 28, 2017, 20:38:17 3. Paddington Looks like Platform 5 Yep, it's Paddington and you're probably right on the platform. Looks like that's all five, folks ... lots of new stuff coming along at Paddington, Swindon and Bristol ... look forward to seeing it away from the main drags! Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: chuffed on July 29, 2017, 08:45:32 Is that the first picture quiz from grahame, when there hasn't been a Taunton ?
I can see CfN sobbing into his recyclable coffee cup from a well known supermarket whilst parked up in his white van with green lettering, somewhere in North Somerset Title: Re: Newer stuff Post by: grahame on July 29, 2017, 09:35:39 Is that the first picture quiz from grahame, when there hasn't been a Taunton ? No. I know some of the newer stock has been to and through Taunton, but I've none in my image collection. On the infrastructure side, you may have noticed some changes there, such as the restricted access for luggage trolleys to platform five and three quarters of late. These days, actually, I've become rather better at spotting "a Taunton" - if there is one. ;D This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
