Title: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: gpn01 on February 25, 2008, 10:12:26 Noticed a poster at Maidenhead this morning that says that Paddington is going to have ticket barriers introduced for platforms 10 - 14. Hope they'll be able to read my season ticket ('coz the Maidenhead ones don't).

Whic is all well and good but the barrier staff need to be more helpful. i.e. iof hands are full and you ar estruggling through - how about inspecting ticket and opening gate rather than insist on the barrier being ticket operated. Maybe you should buy a nice hat and write "I am a first class passenger and you will respect my authority" on it. Then they might open the barrier for you. i.e. iof hands are full and you ar estruggling through - how about inspecting ticket and opening gate rather than insist on the barrier being ticket operated. Has nothing to do with that - they should do it for everyone! Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: Btline on February 25, 2008, 22:02:31 Why do they put in a master ticket to open the gates for people without the credit card sized tickets? Is it passenger counts? I would rather they just let me through the wheelchair gate.
Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: Ollie on February 25, 2008, 22:42:12 It's quicker than using the key to open them
Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: eightf48544 on February 25, 2008, 22:52:39 Are they going to be Oyster compatible? See post elsewhere.
Does that mean PAYG Oyster card holders will not be able to use platform 12 to get to 15/16. Thinking about it if you travel from Ealing Broadway to 13/14 then catch Hammersmith to say Euston Square and you've tapped your Oyster PAYG card at Ealing and out at Morrgate how does it know you not travelled via Nottinghill Gate and Edgware Road? Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: Ollie on February 25, 2008, 22:58:07 They will be able to read oyster as the barriers on overbridge at the moment will no longer be used.
So I've heard. Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: eightf48544 on February 25, 2008, 23:20:34 So where will the barriers be for LUL 15/16?
Title: Re: Introduction of more ticket barriers at Paddington Post by: swlines on February 26, 2008, 02:22:53 Presumably on the concourse as you'll need to pass through a barrier to even get to LUL... apart from platform 1 I guess.
