Two instances, both in 60s. First train Inverness North, having breakfast two Scottish gentlemen drinking McKewans Export around 07:30.

Second chasing steam in NW St Pancras Leeds Friday evening. 03:00 or thereabouts Leeds Manchester (steam from Halifax) Then Manchester Huddersfield steam (a Summer Saturday Scarborough or Bridlington). Transpennine to Leeds unit drinking beer in the buffet car, ready for the famous Saturdays only 10:17 Leeds Carlisle with a Holbeck Jubilee.

Then 00s one of gang on the morning commute Slough Padd bought in champagne for their birthday good fun.
