Title: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Mookiemoo on February 21, 2008, 19:17:28 Got new season ticket this morning - WOS to RDG - 707.00
Noticed at the top of my customer sheet there is a scribble of "no more duplicates" Well - okay, since last july I've had to have three re-issues (at a cost each time) - once because my bag was stolen, once because it got drowned and once because I just didnt know where it was. Apparently, because of that, if I lose it again, I cant have a duplicate issues. Think that is very unfair Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Chris from Nailsea on February 21, 2008, 21:07:10 Hmmm. I agree, it does seem a bit harsh - bearing in mind the amount you've spent, and the fact you are also charged for any duplicates.
Have any other members of this forum had similar restrictions imposed? Is there a formal policy of limiting duplicates - and, if so, to how many? There should be no more than two reissues, so Mookiemoo has done well on this one. And what to stop me getting a photo id as Ann Jones instead of CArol (my middle name is Ann) and starting again - which is what I may do in June if this is going to be the case Its worth losing the discount on renewal if it means I can replace if it gets lost Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Chris from Nailsea on February 21, 2008, 21:43:30 Mookiemoo - with my moderator hat on - would you like to reconsider using your own name in that post?
You can edit your post if you wish, or not: it's up to you! Chris. It is to their discretion whether they permit you another reissue - however, I do recommend keeping your season ticket somewhere a bit safer. Remember, the reissue rule is 1 year within the season ticket starting. For instance, on an annual season ticket, you can reissue up to two times - or with monthlies I believe it's a combination of up to two reissues over the whole year of any season ticket. Confusing, I know... I don't completely understand it myself but what I've posted is my understanding of it following having discussions with a chap at ATOC. You can edit your post if you wish, or not: it's up to you! Chris. To be fair - some people have managed to work out the name of my consulting company and my location even without me using my own name FRankly - I don't care too much - if I say something I mean it - I'm not going to hide behind a pseudonym I am mookiemoo on all but two websites (one I had to change names because I suggested that I would rather run over a fox hunter than a fox) ....... So if you google mookiemoo, you;ll find me pretty quickly Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Phil on February 21, 2008, 22:21:40 if you google mookiemoo, you'll find me pretty quickly Gosh! ;D Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Ollie on February 21, 2008, 23:48:19 As noted already, the fact you got 3 is surprising, as per the NRCoC you only get 2.
And you note that only 1 of those got drowned. So that means there is 2 of your ticket somewhere on the network, which could still be being used by someone. When issuing a duplicate, it is an admin fee of up to ^20, FGW charge ^10. Alot of work is involved so I feel it is deserved, as the revenue department are the ones that look into it, and then the ticket office with the work going into re-issuing. Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: devonian on February 22, 2008, 06:02:51 It is still rather unfair as Mookiemoo points out that if she has her purse stolen, it is not her fault at all. Why should she then be penalised for that?
Agreed, someone that keeps losing their ticket is a different case, but if she reports the theft to the police, she would get a ref number that FGW can cross check (and no doubt increase the charge). Sounds like the rules are rather unjustly blanket like. Now the rule stating no more than two refunds on a standard return ticket when forgetting your season ticket seems fine to me. That is the fault of the owner. No - I only get monthly tickets - so the two floating about would have long since expired anyway Title: Re: No more duplicates? :-( Post by: Mookiemoo on February 22, 2008, 07:07:56 It is still rather unfair as Mookiemoo points out that if she has her purse stolen, it is not her fault at all. That is the fault of the owner. You see - I never usually report the theft to the police - they dont do anything and cards just get cancelled. Its a waste of time and needless red tape to get a number just for the sake of getting a number This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
