Title: BPW to HXX using Heathrow Express?
Post by: JonnyD on February 01, 2017, 08:05:48
At 0932 today heading to Heathrow from Bristol Parkway via PAD.  The NR website when I was booking said the change is onto the Heathrow Express.

Not having used it before but knowing it can be an expensive fare, I'm now having a crisis of confidence that my train ticket to Heathrow Rail will let me use the express and instead force me onto the slower connect.  Only restriction code is LC - can anyone enlighten me?

Only outward restriction I can see is not before:

•08:45 from Bristol Parkway (also valid between 02:00 and 05:30);

On return:

Not valid on trains timed to depart:
•London Paddington after 04:29 and before 08:10 and after 16:40 until 18:31

Thanks for that. My worry is that the tickets do not say they are valid for the Express.

I can too easily believe I've not been sold the journey that I selected when buying them. Just want to know what train to catch at Paddington

The expertise within this forum (myself excepted!) is quite amazing when it comes to answering this sort of thing, but if you're really concerned I'd consider checking with NR, or at Paddington when you get there rather than jumping on the HEX. Good luck!  :)

Were the tickets purchased online? From whom?

You should have email confirmation of itinerary. If that says you are to take the HEx, then you are fine.

Replicating your journey on the GWR Booking Engine for tomorrow, I'm offered an itinerary on the 0932 from Bristol PW, then 1125 from Paddington on HEx. You should have no problem with your Off Peak Single/Return.

Got to PAD early and checked on board - all fine, as you said. Was thrown by HEX conditions of carriage that say tickets are only valid if they say 'Heathrow Express' which mine don't

Many thanks for all the help - was more confident checking!
