Title: Where was bignosemac today? 14th December 2016
Post by: JayMac on December 14, 2016, 13:12:57
Two station Christmas trees bookending my journey today. I suspect the locations will be easily guessed, but I'm posting in celebration of my first train travel in over 3 weeks. Unheard of for me. I've been suffering severe ferroequinological withdrawal symptoms.

Love ferroequinological ! That would have sent grahame's spellchecker into meltdown.

Dawlish and Teignmouth for the white horses ?

Second guess is correct. Teignmouth was my destination.

The "Travelling this Christmas from Teignmouth" poster is a bit of a giveaway!

Famous last words, possibly, but I don't think that's Taunton.  ::)

I will admit that I was trying to work out where that was within the Taunton railway complex ...

There really ought to be a 'dislike' facility on the Coffee Shop forum.  ;D

One more station Christmas tree picture taken today ....

Is it just my imagination, or are there a lot more Christmas Trees about this month than there were last month??

Not famous last words, as I'm 100% certain that's Melksham! (Sorry CfN  ;) :D)

For some reason I do really like those doors though, there's something classic about them with the parallel handles.

I noticed a plusbus poster in one of BNM's photos; yesterday I notched up 8 journeys on a railcard discounted Southampton+Bus. That's less than 20p per trip!

Yes, that's Melksham - but not the railway station frontage, obviously.  ;) :D ;D

I know which plusbus map that is on the back ground. Now to take a guess at which of the stations in the zone it may be....

Paignton?

Sorry, not Paignton.

No, I considered, but then discounted, Paignton too: the ticket office there looks like this - http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/HotspotDetails.aspx?stdCode=SME_PGN&fullsize=14690  ::)

The plusbus zone covers 4 stations (I think). I'm not sure why I said Paignton, I have photos taken at Paignton recently and clearly isn't!

Nope - the station frontage is as at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDoO7FEcXhk and not a Christmas tree in site!

Correct. :)

Agreed - my own research suggested that, too.  ;) :D ;D

Incidentally, that clock seems to have been moved lower down on the wall, so it's now just above that mirror window on the back wall: see http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations_destinations/HotspotDetails.aspx?stdCode=SME_NTA&fullsize=14482

I'm not sure why I said Paignton ...

In future, I'm just going to say 'Taunton' - simply on the balance of probabilities that I'll inadvertently be right sometimes.  ::) :o :-[
