I've done 13 Combe Junction journeys since April! Title: Re: Where was I yesterday? Post by: JayMac on November 20, 2016, 19:37:25 San Clemente station, California. I'll concede the point to PhilWakely. ;) Title: Re: Where was I yesterday? Title: Re: Where was I yesterday? Post by: grahame on November 21, 2016, 01:12:53 San Clemente Pier is indeed correct. And welcome to the forum, CedricCecil - are you a regular visitor to the area?
San Clemente follows the example set at one time by Balloch, with a regular service station simply named after the town, and a second station with the name "Pier" added which is served much less frequently - the LA MetroLink only calls there on Saturdays and Sundays, with just the odd Amtrak Surfliner (LA to Sand Diego) service stopping. Lisa and I are visiting her sister who lives in LA, and we took a $10 weekender pass on the Metrolink on Saturday. So we didn't try the bar at the entrance to the pier ... we caught another train onwards down to Ocenaside and had some lunch there - a fascinating line along the coast, but I would find Oceanside itself hard to recommend as a destination. Then back up to San Juan Capistrano, where we took a tour of the mission and then grabbed a Mexican meal while we awaited the final train of a very sparse service back up to LA.
