Great Western Coffee Shop

Morning all. In order to celebrate the passing of our children from Junior School, we (parents) are arranging to take them for a meal in Reading (from Thatcham) later today.

To cut a long story short and given that some parents need to return at a different time I need to purchase 3 sets of Group Save tickets,

Is there anything to stop one person doing this?

As any parent on here will know the euphoria of breaking up for the summer holidays doesn't always last that long...

Although tickets are "not transferrable" there's nothing to stop you buying for others but you can't resell them.  (Researched this when we had Santa visit!)

Ahh I see what you are saying. On this occasion the other 2 parties have given me the money in advance to purchase  their tickets so am I right in thinking technically I'm not reselling them?

Woolly ... but you'll be fine.

People tend to read "not transferrable" as meaning "must be used by the person who bought the ticket" but actually it doesn't.  If it did, Mum, Dad, Chloe ( 8 ) and David ( 6 ) would each have to buy their own tickets and just image the queues and the issue with a  six year old going on a long distance journey handing over lots of cash or needing a debit / credit card.   What is does mean is that you're supposed to know who you're buying for when you buy, and you're not allowed to switch the person using a ticket it mid-validity.   For example, if I travelled up from Melksham to Ainsdale to look after my granny for a few days, with my wife (who was already up there) coming back when I had taken over, we would need two singles and not a return.

You are clearly two very commendably honest gentlemen however I think you are perhaps worrying too much  :)

Thanks G - tickets have now been purchased and I actually know the names of each person who needs a ticket so they were effectively bought for them and with their money.
