Title: 0723 Warminster/Cardiff 1st March Post by: tramway on March 01, 2007, 09:55:35 0723 Warminster/Cardiff surprisingly ran with two 143's this morning, and was on time from Trowbridge, all was not well though. As we arrived in Bradford the engine in the last coach stopped and didn't want to restart. Just emergency lighting in the carriage is not an issue in these lengthening days, and the lack of engine noise only heightens the awareness of the general din that the 143s make. We finally made it into Bristol a few minutes down, which turned into quite a few more while staff did a watering can hunt to top up the coolant which was obviously the cause of the engine problems. Filton 17 minutes late

Title: Re: 0723 Warminster/Cardiff 1st March Post by: whistleblower on March 01, 2007, 23:02:46 The return service for this unit from Cardiff to Westbury (0900) was cancelled/scheduled to re-start from Bristol. Unfortunately the crew were still in Cardiff and had to travel to BTM to pick it up. By the time they arrived it had been decided to scrap the service and couple the unit to the 0930 Cardiff - Portsmouth to position it to Westbury for its next working.
