Title: Trans Wilts line - General Information Post by: Phil on February 11, 2008, 17:01:56 Service improved from 8th December 2013 ... now 8 trains per day each way (Monday to Saturday) and 6 northbound /5 southbound on Sunday. I am leaving the rest of this thread in tact as a historic record, but will be removing its sticky status - Grahame, 27th December 2013 Swindon to Westbury via Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge Description of line Swindon - Chippenham - Melksham - Trowbridge - Westbury. Service offered 2 trains per day each way on Monday to Saturday, 2 northbound trains and one southbound on Sunday. Peak flows The present trains leave Swindon at 06:12 and 18:44, which is inconvenient for most potential travellers. As a result, a service that was used by 100,000 people per year during the previous franchise has dropped back (our estimate) to just 8% of that - 8,000 journeys per year. Known issues The current service is unsuited to the traffic that's available and offered and there are strong moves for a return to an appropriate service from December 2013. These are discussed elsewhere on this board.
