Title: Serendipitous spotting
Post by: JayMac on March 16, 2016, 18:27:33
I grabbed some photos of HSTs on my arrival at Taunton this morning. Posted them on Facebook where I learnt someone was watching from afar...

One of my pics:

And, just a minute earlier, taken from the '40 Steps' footbridge west of the station:

Second one taken by forum member PhilWakely.

What are the chances of two forum members snapping images of the same rolling stock, same location, at almost the same time, with neither knowing about the other?

I managed to avoid being in Phil's picture by a matter of seconds.

Yep that's me!  :o

Far too wide to be hiding behind a post.

It seems that pictures of me taking pictures of HSTs are nothing new. Another one taken without my knowledge until now

That one surreptitiously snapped by bobm.

Bignosemac's penchant for snapping HSTs allowed me to take that picture after a miscommunication on the platform at Swindon meant I caught an earlier train than we planned.

The train was in as we walked up the steps and I jumped on while my colleague walked down to snap the leading power car and I assumed he would get on at the front and walk down.  It was only as the train pulled out I spotted him on the platform!

Thus I arrived in Paddington 15 minutes before him and I knew he'd have his camera out so I was prepared!

When was that picture taken? I seem to remember seeing someone dressed like that taking pictures at Pad within the last few weeks.

Following in the forty- foot-steps of others. Today saw me in the same location that PhilWakely was in yesterday.

Apologies for picture quality. My phone's camera is better than this, with 20.7 megapixels on a very good sensor. Inexplicably I was snapping away at the 2 megapixel setting and using digital zoom.

Just prior to an agreeable lunch on the 1206 Pullman to Newton Abbot.
