Title: Meanwhile, in 2016... Post by: Richard Fairhurst on February 13, 2016, 10:35:42 The Wilderness Festival attracts up to 30,000 people to Cornbury Park, just outside Charlbury. FGW have historically expertly marshalled festival-goers from trains to a series of shuttle buses - although the military queueing system hasn't been quite to the taste of locals just wanting to catch the train as normal!
This year's Wilderness will be on 4th-7th August. But according to a posting on the Charlbury forum: Quote just got a letter from GWR 3-7th August 2016 railway will be closed between Oxford and Charlbury for bridge repair work ie Wilderness weekend was this a friday funny from Jon Morgan project manager GWR or is he really closing the railway it on what must be the busiest weekend of the year for Charlbury ?? This could be all manner of chaos if true. Given that the Hinksey work will be taking place at the same time, I suspect coaches from Oxford Parkway (or, at a push, Bicester) will be the most sensible option... Title: Re: Meanwhile, in 2016... Post by: ChrisB on February 13, 2016, 21:37:11 It does make sense as Hinksey slready means a disrupted journey towards Charlbury.
I might make Chiltern aware of these closures. It'll be interesting to see what suggestions appear on the Wilderness website This page is printed from the "Coffee Shop" forum at http://gwr.passenger.chat which is provided by a customer of Great Western Railway.
