Not an unprecedented event - happened with an HST due to stop at Twyford not so long ago IIRC.

Don't the drivers have a sheet in front of them that tells them which stations they are supposed to stop at on a particular service?

Whilst just as serious, but nowhere near as inconveniencing, this happened to several of my work colleagues about 10 years ago at Pinhoe.

I was due to host a meeting at our Exeter office and several colleagues from Salisbury were due to attend. They would normally get the train to Exeter Central and pick up taxis from there to the office. However, Pinhoe station is just a 10 minute drive from the office, so I offered to meet them off the 08:10 service at Pinhoe and take then to the office from there.

Anyway, I was waiting on the station along with about a dozen people wanting to get on the train. Imagine our surprise when the train sped through the station at 70mph!

I immediately used the Help Point to find out why it failed to stop, only to be informed "according to my records the train stopped at Pinhoe for 2 minutes" - Oh, no it didn't!

I understand that the driver of that train was severely disciplined.

Looking at the picture in the article.....

I am not surprised the driver didn't stop - the station appears to be missing!   ;D

Thanks, BobM. What a laugh to start the day.
