Title: Two incidents near Paddington on 01 Jan 16
Post by: insider on January 01, 2016, 07:39:44
Not a good start to the New Year....

An ECS from Reading to Paddington struck a person at Hayes & Harlington earlier this morning, at around 0450.

Minor disruption to GWR service with just the return working to Reading Cancelled by the looks of it...

However  Heathrow Express & Connect startup and people with early flights got disrupted worse....luckily the Tube was already up and running from New Years Eve...

Thoughts with everyone involved....

That would be an assumption as no drivers have reported striking anyone at this stage.

On a more positive note there are no reports I have seen that the earlier incident at Hayes ended in a fatality.  There are suggestions that someone received a glancing blow and was being treated by ambulance staff.

The journeycheck emails of closure & re-opening arrived well within 30mins which doesn't allude to a fatality @ Hayes. I think the event around Ealing however, is

The incident at Ladbroke Grove has been confirmed as a fatality.  The circumstances however are less clear.  That possibly explains the prediction that disruption will last until 15:45.

Another one?  What an awful start to 2016.

Due to a person being hit by a train earlier between London Paddington and Ealing Broadway all lines are closed.

Impact
Train services running to and from these stations may be delayed by up to 60 mins or revised. Disruption is expected until 15:45 01/01.

Customer Advice
Owing to an incident near Paddington we are currently unable to operate train services to or from London Paddington.

GWR long distance High Speed services will not operate between London Paddington & Reading. Any customers travelling to or from the London area requiring to connect into / out of these revised services at Reading may travel via London Waterloo on South West Trains services either on their direct services via Richmond & Ascot or via Guildford or via Basingstoke. London Underground will pass GWR ticket holders across London in order to facilitate this.

Any customers intending to travel between Paddington and the Oxford area may use Chiltern Railways services from / to London Marylebone.

Given the fact there have now been two incidents affecting services in and out of Paddington this morning, I have renamed the topic to reflect this.
