Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 14, 2015, 14:34:12 Cheap advance tickets for January & possibly February, I reckon - and yes, I got it too
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: Western Pathfinder on December 14, 2015, 18:52:56 As did I. So wait and see what the morning brings forth.
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: rogerw on December 14, 2015, 20:30:16 I suspect that everyone on their mailing list got it.
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: JayMac on December 15, 2015, 11:02:27 Anyone got the email today yet?
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 15, 2015, 11:03:14 not me.....but it could be anytime, once their webpage is set up
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: JayMac on December 15, 2015, 11:06:51 But with sale only on for 48 hours...
Including today would mean much less than 48 hours now. Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: JayMac on December 15, 2015, 11:13:22 Just asked on Twitter.
There's a technical issue with loading the Fares into the booking engine. Deja vu. Just like last time they ran a promotion. ::) Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: Timmer on December 15, 2015, 11:42:45 Anyone got the email today yet? I've just signed on to ask that very question. Thanks for finding out BNM. Hopefully the 48 hours will be begin when the emails go out.Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: JayMac on December 15, 2015, 12:20:03 I've just signed on to ask that very question. Thanks for finding out BNM. Hopefully the 48 hours will be begin when the emails go out. I asked about the 48 hours too. Told that will be honoured. Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ray951 on December 15, 2015, 16:57:31 Well I have the email, and the offer is for Advance Singles for travel between Oxford and Paddington between 11th Jan and 2nd March from ^6.
Given that I live in Didcot and don't fancy travelling to Oxford to get a cheap ticket it isn't of much use. Maybe I was sent the email because I live in an OX postcode >:( Although I don't really understand why you can't purchase advance tickets, towards London, from Didcot, given that I believe that you can purchase them on all the trains that go through Didcot towards London e.g. Cheltenham, Bristol, Oxford, Worcester etc. Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: didcotdean on December 15, 2015, 17:19:47 ^6 is the normal lowest price for PAD-OXF advances though!
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: basset44 on December 15, 2015, 17:40:32 Received email at 17.17 countdown is now about 30 hours it ends midnight tomorrow.
Now trying to find stations from Cardiff Basset Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: Western Pathfinder on December 15, 2015, 17:43:45 I've just booked a ^20 return from BPW to PAD on Jan 11th.
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: basset44 on December 15, 2015, 18:35:48 Hi All,
Just booked two deals , both trains leaving Padd. during peak hours on the return part and it said made a saving of over 198 pounds. You have to be quick some are showing very few tickets. Basset Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: PhilWakely on December 15, 2015, 23:45:28 I'e been trying since 10:30pm and it is now 11:45pm and the booking engine appears to be down as it won't recognise any station names.
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: Chris from Nailsea on December 16, 2015, 01:32:02 The e-mail I received from Great Western Railway at 16:23 yesterday says:
Quote Dear Chris, Our great value offer is here. You can now access Advance purchase single tickets between Bristol and London Paddington from just ^10 for travel between 11 January and 2 March 2016. And the good news is, you can buy as many tickets as you like. So book now ^ the countdown is underway. Problem is, I can't remember the last time I travelled to Paddington - but there are many other destination stations that I could find useful. Why do GWR apparently assume that I'd only find cheap tickets to London of any interest? ::) Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 16, 2015, 10:51:57 I'e been trying since 10:30pm and it is now 11:45pm and the booking engine appears to be down as it won't recognise any station names. That was still the case 30 minutes ago! Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: bobm on December 16, 2015, 15:38:04 I had the same problem, but the app works.
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 16, 2015, 15:48:41 I've booked now, but it took a while
Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: tom m on December 16, 2015, 22:20:57 Made use of this toady for a few tickets for my mum.
The website is very clunky and it was really difficult to book for more than one journey, ended up doing 3 separate transactions. Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 30, 2015, 11:32:44 Appears to be a further offer from ^6 to ^19 across their network. Another email arrived this morning.
Book by January 12th, for travel between January 20th & March 22nd. Title: Re: Email from GWR Post by: ChrisB on December 30, 2015, 11:40:54 Further, it seems that there are triple nectar points on offer too!
I got both these offers - "Avon Triple Bonus Nov15" and "West of England triple off-peak STD" so, for a ^26 spend, I got a total of 156 Nectar points!
