The plan has caused outrage amongst the villagers over proposals to build a new road from Poundfield to Terrys Lane in Cookham and so creating 'a one-way gyratory system'. An online petition was set up and a copy of the petition with more than 300 signatures was handed to the council at the meeting. Since its publication in January large parts of the plan have been widely condemned by villagers, councillors and even Maidenhead MP Theresa May and an online petition against a by-pass across the Poundfield area of the village has collected nearly 400 signatures. At the meeting the public voted overwhelmingly in support of rejecting the transport and traffic report, while agreeing on a new timetable for the creation of a new version of the plan.
