Title: Refund Post by: TaplowGreen on November 05, 2015, 08:44:05 Chaps I would be grateful for a bit of advice
My parents were due to visit myself and Mrs TG this weekend, travelling up from Plymouth tomorrow morning on Advance tickets with a two together railcard - unfortunately Mother is ill (nothing serious, but enough to make travel difficult) so they have had to cancel and won't be using their tickets - in these circumstances, would they be able to get a refund (minus admin charge)? Tickets were purchased in person at Plymouth station Any advice gratefully received. Many thanks Title: Re: Refund Post by: JayMac on November 05, 2015, 09:04:13 There are no refunds on Advance Purchase (AP) tickets. Only hope is goodwill from GWR after explaining that travel was not possible due to illness.
Alternatively, your parents may be able to excess the AP tickets to other APs (or walk up tickets) for travel on a later date if they can commit to one. This would be subject to payment of any difference in fares plus a ^10 per person admin fee. Origin, destination and main operator/route would have to remain the same. This would have to be done before the date and time of original booked travel and is subject to ticket office staff vagaries. Title: Re: Refund Post by: LiskeardRich on November 05, 2015, 17:29:16 I think it depends who deals with your request.
I have on 4 occasions chanced it due to illness, supplying a photocopy of a doctors note each time. On two occasions its been refunded without admin fees, and on 2 occasions refund declined outright. It was pretty much as BNM advised, my Father called yesterday & they offered to waive the admin fee if another booking was made there and then but he wasn't able to commit to specific dates.
