Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: JayMac on September 16, 2015, 15:29:31 Some might say, where I belongs. :-X
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 15:56:33 I did mean it light-heartedly, honest! ;D
It's those railings I can't place - but I have an uneasy feeling that I ought to know ... ::) Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: ChrisB on September 16, 2015, 16:43:58 Didcot pl 3 western end
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Timmer on September 16, 2015, 17:12:05 My old station Bath Spa.
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 18:02:51 Yes, it's Bath Spa, isn't it? :-[
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: JayMac on September 16, 2015, 18:05:20 Yer, tiz Baff Spar, innit.
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: JayMac on September 16, 2015, 19:51:18 A pint of quality lager from the Bath Ales bar 'Graze' next to the 'up' platform at Bath Spa.
A great place to sup a pint and watch the trains go by. Word of warning. Bit pricey. My proper Czech Budweiser cost me ^4.50. Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 19:55:38 I'd expect a litre of it, rather than a pint, at that price! :o
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: NickF on September 16, 2015, 20:03:47 A hostelry I have frequented many times; I find Bath Ales own brews are more reasonably priced at ^3.50 per pint :)
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 20:12:03 Hmm. In my local Wetherspoon's (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-glass-maker), Bath Ales are generally priced at a very reasonable ^1.99 for a pint. :-X
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: NickF on September 16, 2015, 20:14:43 Great value! That would be ^1.49 for me with my Camra money off voucher ;D
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: bobm on September 16, 2015, 20:44:32 Same here .... except I have used my quarterly allocation of vouchers!
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: JayMac on September 16, 2015, 21:05:43 Thing is, I'm on a bit of a lager bent at the moment. Quality lager mind, which means paying through the nose in many locations.
Peroni Nastro Azzurro - ^5.04 a pint, The Beer House, Waterloo Veltins Pilsner - ^5.00 a pint, Mad Bishop & Bear, Paddington Budvar Budweiser - ^4.50 a pint, Graze, Bath Spa Amstel - ^4.16 a pint, Bonapartes, Bristol Temple Meads Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: bobm on September 16, 2015, 21:10:22 This could be a concern then - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34268632 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34268632) ;D
Quote The prospect of a tie-up between the world's two largest brewers is looming after Anheuser-Busch InBev said it had made a takeover move for SABMiller. The combined value of the two firms is likely to be at least $230bn (^150bn) based on Tuesday's share price. AB InBev's brands include Budweiser, Stella Artois and Corona, while SABMiller owns Peroni and Grolsch. Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: JayMac on September 16, 2015, 21:18:08 There has been much consolidation in the brewing industry over the past two decades. If things carry on the way they're going we'll be left with one brewing behemoth:
GlobalABInBevSABMillerHeinekenAsahiCarlsbergKirinTsingtaoMolsonCoors If anyone's interested, bignosemac is thinking about getting his homebrew equipment out from under the stairs. Last time he fired up the equipment he made a passable Grolsch analogue. The handful of bottles that didn't explode were quite agreeable. Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 22:23:25 Amstel - ^4.16 a pint, Bonapartes, Bristol Temple Meads Or ^2.20 a pint in my local Wetherspoons, I believe. (I'm more of a real ale drinker). :-X Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: bobm on September 16, 2015, 22:38:21 Me too. Ordinary strength lager gives me a headache - although strangely Carksberg Special doesn't!
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Western Pathfinder on September 16, 2015, 22:43:05 End of a long day for me so I having a glass of Bath Ales Wild Hare organic IPA
if you haven't tried it I recommend it highly cheers WP. Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 22:45:39 As a matter of idle curiosity on my part, may I ask whereabouts, and how much? ;)
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Surrey 455 on September 16, 2015, 22:48:38 Me too. Ordinary strength lager gives me a headache - although strangely Carksberg Special doesn't! I'm normally a lager drinker though I avoid American Budweiser as that gives me a headache. I've recently been introduced to IPA which I do like and my current tipple when in Wetherspoons pubs is Devils Backbone, an American Pale Ale I believe. Edited to clarify American Budweiser seeing as Bignosemac has already referred to the original Czech beer Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Western Pathfinder on September 16, 2015, 22:56:53 As a matter of idle curiosity on my part, may I ask whereabouts, and how much? ;) You may CFN at home in a large Armchair in north Bristol ^1.95 A bottle from all good branches of Waitrose and the odd off liscence . Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Chris from Nailsea on September 16, 2015, 23:01:45 Excellent answer! ;D
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: patch38 on September 16, 2015, 23:06:10 How can American Budweiser give you a headache? There's naff all in it (as the well-worn joke about making love in a punt recalls...) ;D
Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: LiskeardRich on September 16, 2015, 23:10:42 I tend to stick to Rattler cider, or if that's not available any small brewer cider will suffice.
It seems to vary in price from ^2.80-^4.60 a pint here in Redruth. I'm aware my local sports club is doing a promotion for ^1.50 pints during the 80mins of the World Cup games though. I think I may be steaming for less than 20 quid! Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Surrey 455 on September 16, 2015, 23:13:38 How can American Budweiser give you a headache? There's naff all in it (as the well-worn joke about making love in a punt recalls...) ;D Don't know. Weird chemicals maybe? It's not something you often see on draught, all my experiences have been from bottles so can't blame a bad pint . Title: Re: Where's I at, right now? Post by: Red Squirrel on September 16, 2015, 23:19:08 I'm always nervous of any product where the makers spend more on advertising than on ingredients...
