Title: TransWilts / Melksham stopping pattern over the weekend.
Post by: grahame on August 26, 2015, 19:36:35
We have learned so much from the diversions through the TransWilts over recent weeks, and we can learn even more looking at the service when you layer a strike on top of that.

Saturday ...
Swindon to Salisbury at 08:19, 10:22, 12:19 and every 2 hours to 20:19
Salisbury to Swindon at 09:40 and every 2 hours to 19:40. Extras at 07:04 and 09:21 from Westbury.

Almost every train calls at Dilton Marsh on request. Sensible.

But why this pattern for Melksham?

I have to market / sell these services to the crowds coming to Comicon - http://melkshamcomiccon.com - and leaving late afternoon to go back to Swindon / London.

FGW have offered me the following:

oh - wait - I think I've found the northbound trains.  They redress the balance on Sunday:

And I haven't dared look at Monday.

Answers to "why" gratefully received, please! ...

So, southbound on Saturday, northbound on Sunday.  I think FGW are trying to do grahame a personal favour by expecting pax to stay overnight somewhere  :D  ;D  ::)  :)

Perhaps that's why - even though we're a business hotel - we're already full on Saturday night!
