Title: Re: Marlow Suspension Bridge Works Post by: johoare on February 02, 2008, 22:45:25 HHmm... It's kind of one way across the bridge usually, not sure what difference the roadworks will make.. Both ends of the bridge are only wide enough for one car, so the traffic regulates itself (if everyone is being polite and nice).. I guess the difference with the roadworks might be traffic lights holding the traffic up?...
Title: Re: Marlow Suspension Bridge Works Post by: Lee on April 08, 2008, 07:49:24 Motorists have claimed a small victory in their fight to have the bollards on Marlow suspension bridge removed (link below.)
http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/article-5969-bridge-bollards-infuriate-drivers/ Since they were installed last month a number of drivers have shredded their tyres driving over the bridge, due to the bollards sharp edges. This week Buckinghamshire County Council agreed to rectify the problem. Title: Re: Marlow Suspension Bridge Works Post by: Lee on April 21, 2008, 12:30:09 A team of workmen has now smoothed off the hazardous edges (link below.)
http://www.maidenhead-advertiser.co.uk/news/article-6141-smoothing-drivers-anger-with-bollard-works/ Additional white lining has also been painted on the road to guide nervous drivers safely between the bollards. The new guidelines failed to prevent one driver from smashing his vehicle into the bollards. The large lorry collided into the bollards on the Bisham side of the bridge, leaving one of them slanting awkwardly off its base. Bridge engineers from Bucks County Council were forced to reset the damaged bollard the following morning.
