Title: Bonus Nectar points from FGW
Post by: bobm on July 20, 2015, 11:54:58
Bought a Didcot Parkway to Swindon Super Off Peak single yesterday for travel on Wednesday on the FGW site and was offered 300 bonus Nectar Points.  It isn't available between all destinations and between DID and SWI it isn't offered for every train - even where the same ticket type applies.

I can't see any publicity about this or what the criteria are.

Consdering a super off peak does not tie you to a specific train, it is worth choosing one with the bonus points unless you require a seat reservation.  For a 21 minute journey, I'd happily take the chance of no guaranteed seat in exchange for points.

The bonus points are indicated by a minature purple Nectar icon with a white '+' inside.  This is located to the top right of the fare selection boxes and left of the departure time.

Some trains on the route mentioned by bobm have 400 bonus points instead of 300, even on the same day...

Check your email inboxes.  I have just received an email from FGW offering "1000 Nectar points on your next booking".  I guess that's worth ^5 at Sainsbury's.

Conditions are as follows
Quote
1. This First Great Western bonus points promotion runs on firstgreatwestern.co.uk from 00:00 hours on 12th August 2015 until 23:59 hours on 12th February 2016.
2. Only selected customers invited to qualify may participate. To qualify for 1000 Nectar points, you must purchase a train ticket before 12th February 2016 via the link on the promotional email which will go through to firstgreatwestern.co.uk.
3. 1000 Nectar points will not be awarded on any of the following: (a) season tickets; (b) travel cards; (c) and any element of a transaction which is paid for by redeeming a National Rail Travel voucher or gift voucher; (d) PLUS BUS.
4. Qualifying Nectar collectors will be awarded the 1000 bonus Nectar points no later than 4 weeks after transaction.
5. First Great Western reserve the right to (a) withdraw at any time any Nectar points that were granted in the case of any fraudulent activity or in error; (b) withhold or delay issuing Nectar points; (c) change these terms at any time.
6. First Great Western and Nectar booking terms & conditions apply.
7. First Great Western Advance Purchase tickets are subject to availability. Savings are calculated based on a comparison to buying on the day of travel, restrictions apply. Buy in advance to avoid disappointment. Full terms and conditions at firstgreatwestern.co.uk.
8. First Great Western's decisions relating to this promotion are final and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law.
9. The promoter is First Great Western.
It is not offering me the bonus points for services that do not involve travel on FGW's network.  Shame the conditions don't say this...

Has anyone managed to get the 1000 bonus points?  I bought two tickets on 1 October using the email link one of which was wholly on GWR yet have not received the bonus

Did the 1000 bonus points show in "The Mixing Deck" interface when you booked the tickets?

How much "real" money does 400 points equate to?

They may have changed the offer - the latest marketing email I just got has a link to book tickets which earn you 6 x usual number of points.....

Just checked my email (haven't made a purchase on the FGW/GWR website since) and it is valid until "23:59 hours on 12th February 2016".  However, the purchasing process no longer shows the bonus points as previously.  So much for being valid until February....!
