Title: Terrible Saturday morning service in cornwall Post by: LiskeardRich on July 03, 2015, 17:55:44 Tomorrow morning I needed to get to either St erth or St Ives for no later than 1000
Being a July Saturday morning I thought this should be straight forward by rail. Nope between Redruth and St erth, there is no service departing from Redruth between 0718 until 0955. (The 0718 being the first service of the day). We are left only dreaming of a decent train service in Cornwall. I don't recall such a bad service previously, I imagine shop workers want to travel to work etc for say 0900 starts. It feels like we in Cornwall are getting very short changed at the moment for public transport. Evening peak from Truro heading west there is a service at 1720 ish then not another until 1850 ish. I have a few times got trains from Devon on my way back home into Cornwall and got on trains terminating at Plymouth only to discover the next train into Cornwall is a 40 min or so wait. Now I usually make sure I get the 1C84 and 1C86 hsts back into Cornwall. And that is what I shall be using in the morning. I'm guessing stock is needed more elsewhere to deal as best as possible with the huge increase in passengers in Cornwall? There's also a 07:48 running after 12th September, which is presumably when the stock isn't needed elsewhere?
