Title: Avonmouth to Weymouth Post by: JayMac on June 13, 2015, 09:45:43 What should I be sold if I ask for the cheapest ticket to get me from Avonmouth to Weymouth on a Saturday, returning the same day?
Title: Re: Avonmouth to Weymouth Post by: eightf48544 on June 13, 2015, 10:47:24 A simple dabble on National Rail suggests ^22.60 Off Peak Return via Yeovil no discounts or ^40.40 via Southampton.
^22.60 return doesn't seem bad for over 7 hours of train travel and 7 hours in Weymouth if you go out on the 07:15 and back on the 18:28 Title: Re: Avonmouth to Weymouth Post by: grahame on June 13, 2015, 10:52:45 What should I be sold if I ask for the cheapest ticket to get me from Avonmouth to Weymouth on a Saturday, returning the same day? Heart of Wessex Day Ranger? 19 pounds return. Plus trips to Swindon during the day if you want to. I've asked the question on board a train, at a staffed station, via Telesales, on social media, and I've searched for the cheapest fare using booking engines and FGW's app. None of those offered the cheapest fare. ::) Those not in the know about the Day Ranger will pay too much. In these circumstances I think it is incumbent upon the ticket seller to be in the know. That's to say nothing as to why the Off Peak Day Return to Weymouth from Severn Beach Line stations is up to ^5.70 more than the Off Peak Day Return to Weymouth from Bristol TM. When the Day Return fares from Severn Beach Line Stations to Bristol TM are either ^2 or ^3.
