Title: Minor delays 19 May 2015 Post by: TonyK on May 19, 2015, 17:07:42 Heading from SRD to BTH today, I changed to the 0841 to WEY. We left BRI on time, but stopped just after North Somerset Junction. After a few minutes, we crawled forward, and I could feel a faint "bump" as each wheel passed something. It was later announced as a broken rail. Is this a frequent happening? It was clearly under control. My return journey from BTH was 6 late, the reason being given as "earlier emergency engineering work". There were many orange suits in view on my return, including one with a very long spanner.
On matters of lighter engineering, I was pleased to see the return of the Muriel on P1 at SRD: (http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/Boyamijealous_7108a707/Muriel2_zpstuxdzmtq.jpg) I spoke to a couple of chaps engaged on signalling work - nothing we didn't know already, but confirmatory. And to put the icing on the cake, I picked wild garlic to go with my dinner on the way out of the station - it's at the perfect stage!
