Title: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 13:38:55 Seems a while since we had a "where is this" quiz.
So ... where are each of these? (One guess each, please, for first 24 hours): 1. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_1.jpg) 2. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_2.jpg) 3. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_3.jpg) 4. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_4.jpg) 5. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_5.jpg) 6. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_6.jpg) Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 24, 2015, 14:15:54 6. Fishguard Harbour.
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Phil Farmer on April 24, 2015, 14:18:09 Salisbury
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 14:54:23 6. Fishguard Harbour. Salisbury Yes - No. 1 is Salisbury and No. 6 is Fishguard Harbour. Now - where is there between those two ;D Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: SandTEngineer on April 24, 2015, 14:59:30 3. Ravens Rock ::)
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 15:48:31 3. Ravens Rock ::) Wow - that was well identified! Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: SandTEngineer on April 24, 2015, 16:05:49 3. Ravens Rock ::) Wow - that was well identified! Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Ollie on April 24, 2015, 16:14:58 2. Chippenham
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 18:03:47 2. Chippenham correct ... which leaves just 4 and 5 to go. Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: rogerw on April 24, 2015, 18:32:52 4 Trowbridge?
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 18:34:00 4 Trowbridge? Correct. Leaving just No. 4 to identify (location, not person pictured!) Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Western Pathfinder on April 24, 2015, 18:38:32 No4 might it be Filton Abbey Wood ?
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 18:41:42 No4 might it be Filton Abbey Wood ? I'm afraid it isn't. This one's quite difficult (but then I thought no. 3 was quite difficult ....) Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Adelante_CCT on April 24, 2015, 19:08:18 No4 might it be Filton Abbey Wood ? I'm afraid it isn't. This one's quite difficult (but then I thought no. 3 was quite difficult ....) I believe its No.5 that's being guessed here, rather than No.4... I have looked up the answer but that may be considered cheating so I will not post the answer here yet. Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 24, 2015, 19:13:51 I looked up 5 as well, although I had a vague idea based on the few visual clues other than IKB.
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Trowres on April 24, 2015, 21:38:34 5 Bray
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 24, 2015, 21:56:24 In Berkshire? Don't think that village has ever had a station. :P ;) ;D
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 23:17:32 5 Bray That's correct In Berkshire? Don't think that village has ever had a station. :P ;) ;D And that is - also - correct. The picture is at Bray, just to the south of Dublin, Ireland ... now, was that where your research (BNM and Adelante_CCT) pointed? I was there on Tuesday evening - changing from the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) to the main line train for Rosslare Europort on my way back via Fishguard ... and interested to see the reach of IKB! Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 24, 2015, 23:19:43 Wot - no Taunton ?? :o ::) ;D
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: grahame on April 24, 2015, 23:36:41 7. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_7.jpg)
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 24, 2015, 23:40:05 My research did indeed point to Bray, Ireland. I took an educated guess it was Ireland based on the Help Point and red banding on the almost out of shot station name board. Then it was just a case of a targeted Google query, "Brunel Mosaic Station Ireland"
:P ;) ;D Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 24, 2015, 23:42:07 7. Melksham? :P ;) ;D
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 24, 2015, 23:51:37 7. (http://www.wellho.net/pix/qa15_7.jpg) Yes, I should have known you'd have 'yet another' picture up your sleeve! ;) :D ;D 7. Taunton - the old headquarters of Viridor, the recycling company. :-X Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 25, 2015, 00:14:27 A building crying out for a new tenant. Be ideal for a hotel I think.
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 25, 2015, 00:25:06 It is indeed a classic Georgian frontage, and a sturdy building behind - but is there any demand for a hotel, right next to the railway station at Taunton, these days? ???
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: JayMac on April 25, 2015, 00:35:19 If I win the lottery I'd give it a go. :D
Title: Re: Six of the best Post by: Chris from Nailsea on April 25, 2015, 00:45:40 I'd be right there with you, mate - but I suspect it would soak up an absolute fortune, just to bring it up to modern hotel standards / expectations! :o ::) ;D
